Lipstick

Well, hi.

The title might seem crazy but I do not mind craziness. I have friends. :) It is a hangover from the movie 'Lipstick under my Burqha'- a movie that shows patriarchal dominance and how women negotiate and oppose their condition in it. Somehow, the bonding reminded me of my MHH friends again. A lot of times, you see, it happens that I sit inside a place for so long that I forget where I am.  Many times I imagine moving inside Miranda House Hostel- just barging into the room of my friends.

The thing about the "present" is that we always fail to appreciate things, events and people when we actually have them. A lot of times we are just unable to thank people because it is impossible to comprehend what they mean to us in words. It is amazing to realize that we meet some people in college who seem they are there just for us. And it never felt like we just met. It was always like somewhere we knew each other for so long. It is like the feeling you get after reading a great book. You will never forget the contents but once in a while, you like to read those paragraphs and sentences again or just flipping those pages brings alive the story.

There were no timings, no appointments and sometimes there were no permissions taken either. You highjack their room, bed, bucket, food, anything. You talk while pooping, having a bath and even while brushing. In the chilly winters of Delhi or in the evening of hot summers, a bath meant that you get dressed and go out with friends, if nowhere far then at least to Patel Chest or maybe Mother dairy! The Ridge was a beautiful place and shopping was an everyday event. But a trip to Sarojini meant you have been in America during the gold rush. At 2 am the night had just begun. Angry knocks of neighbours at that time meant you freeze in the position you are.

Life had been fun. It still is. It is true that some people stay right inside our hearts. We are always carrying their thoughts in our mind. And somewhere we have tiny parts of them. Believe me, It is a wonderful feeling!

Saying all this, I miss my company at 2 or may be 3 am, just to apply lipstick or eyeliner or even a face mask, study with jhumkas on and clicking the most horrific photos ever.

Miss you dear stars!

  5. You'd have the 2 am company if only you'd be willing to leave the coziness (laziness) of your room :D
