In rememberance of Food and People (Assam visit)
A post in rememberance and gratitude of all the relishing meals I had recently in Assam- mostly in Guwahati and Dima Hasao :) 😋🥰
Hemphi, being the superwoman that she is, made us amazing chicken soup and the heartwarming fish curry with elephant apple for dinner, even after a long tiring day.
We had traditional Dimasa cuisines of boiled fish, chicken cooked in xaar and rice flour, pork, exquisite fish chutneys, and three types of rice beer/wine at Jus's wedding.
Larbin made sure we don't miss out experiencing Stinky beans at any cost.
The trip ended with a delicious lunch with Shivangi, Priyanka, Merlyn and me devouring Assamese thali and much missed fish pitika at Tholgiri.
Bought back some baby potatoes, some Indian olives, some Kaji Nemu (GI tagged product of Assam), Komal chawal, an elephant apple (gifted by Hemphi) and many pickles among other things to relive that taste of childhood in Delhi.
Towards the beginning of the trip, there were many questions. One being, which is the best trip so far? I guess, trips that make you feel yourself again, keep you laughing, warm at heart, smiling in the tummy, and enjoy the precious connections are the best ones! So grateful for people who made this experience memorable!
In another vein of thoughts, in my recent visit to Sabarmati Ashram at Ahmedabad, I came across an exhibit stating how Gandhi's vows for the Ashram- Control of the Palate, recommending having just enough food as it was medicine.
Another friend of mine, Deepjyoti can go on days about the intricate relationships we have with food. So many memories of mine are intertwined between people, food and olaces. Food simply is something that makes the heart smile. Thus, I am left wondering all about "Khanne ke liye jeena aur jeene ke liye khana.."
